il titolo pero' ha e' piombato giu' del 6% in apertura che mi fa pensare che qualche hedge fund stia facendo stime pessimistiche per la questione brexitMiniature wargames manufacturer Games Workshop reported a better first-half performance on Tuesday than it had been expecting, as the group continues to benefit from Covid-19 restrictions and lockdowns.
In the six months to 29 November 2020, pre-tax profit rose to £91.6m from £58.6m in the six months to 1 December 2019, on revenues of £186.8m, up from £148.4m. In an update last month, the company, which makes Warhammer figurines, had guided to profit of not less than £90m and sales of around £185m.
Basic earnings per share came in at 226.1p from 145.9p and Games Workshop declared an interim dividend of 80p a share, down from 100p.
Chief executive officer Kevin Rountree said: “Another cracking performance from a truly amazing, global team; a solid six months building on the great progress and profitable growth we have been consistently delivering over the last five years.
“Finally, I’d like to thank our enthusiastic and loyal fan base who share our love for the Warhammer Hobby and the fantastical settings, characters and narratives that make up our IP. Their ongoing support and feedback have been invaluable, keeping us honest when we have fallen short and driving us onward to continue to deliver more and better."
GAMES WORKSHOP UNVEILS FURTHER DIVIDEND AS SALES BOOM
(Sharecast News) - Games Workshop unveiled a dividend of 50p a share and predicted annual profit would rise by at least 69% after sales boomed during the pandemic.
The maker of miniature wargame figures said the latest dividend would take the total announced this financial year to 235p a share compared with 145p the previous year.
The FTSE 250 group said the payout was in line with its policy of "distributing truly surplus cash".
For the year to the end of May 2021 group sales will be no less than £350m compared with £270m a year earlier and profit will be at least £150m, up from £89m. Licensing royalties are included and will be about £15m, down from £17m a year earlier.
Games Workshop has traded strongly during the Covid-19 crisis as people stuck at home during lockdowns have spent spare cash on the company's miniature figures. The company announced a dividend of 45p a share in March.
Employees will receive £12m in share bonuses during the year, paid equally to each member of staff, up from a total of £2m the year before.
The 50p dividend will be paid on 5 July for shareholders on the register at 28 May, with an ex-dividend date of 27 May.
